Over the last few years, the culinary scene in Baltimore has most definitely improved. You’ve seen it – how can you miss it? New chefs, tons of restaurants, a heightened cocktail scene and a distinct culture of collaboration have all combined to create a perfect storm for food and beverages in Charm City.

Recently, Kit Pollard of The Baltimore Sun wrote about a fantastic example of how generous chefs and restaurants are collaborating for a great cause – Passion for Wine & Food. This fabulous event includes a dinner, auction and cocktail reception now in its third year, benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Guests are seated at a table and each table has a dedicated chef preparing their dinner – right there AT the table! I went last year and it was pretty amazing. Another twist I loved, guests do not know at which chef’s table they will be seated until after the cocktail hour. The live auction is run by Sergio Vitale and Jerry Pellegrino and is lively…to say the least. These two charismatic local chefs stir the pot, the wines flow and the bids go up, up, up.

I’m lucky enough to be attending the event again this coming Thursday and I will be writing a little something about it. I can’t wait!
