CLAVEL REOPENS INDOORS
The news many of us have been waiting to hear — indoor dining is back at Clavel! The last time guests enjoyed the amazing food and drinks indoors at Clavel was March 15, 2020.

Indoor seating begins on Tuesday, July 13 at 5pm.
As with every phase, we have taken steps methodically. We will begin with opening a single dining room and returning to table service inside and outside. The bar(s) won’t yet be open for seating, however, we plan to transition to a full house opening at a later date.
Masks for guests will be optional inside and outside. The indoor staff has decided to continue wearing masks.
Carryout (and burritos) will continue in a new format. Simply order online and pickup inside the Nixtamaleria. No more drive thru. Taco kits and burritos will be available for carryout only.
Please note that we will be closed on Monday, July 12 to prepare for the re-opening.
We are grateful to have arrived in this moment. We have all made sacrifices. Looking back we can say with confidence that we did our best. We couldn’t have made it through without our courageous team.
We are also grateful to all of our long-term supporters and regulars who have been generous and patient throughout this pandemic. Your burrito bellies are beautiful! Thank you.

I’ve had stomach issues for as long as I can remember. So, after seeing a commercial for the Everlywell Food Sensitivity Test (for the 50th time) I decided to try it. Now, this test is by no means 100% foolproof, but it’s a pretty good start to seeing where your food problems lie. For me, the news was a little sad. EGGS. Egg whites and egg yolks were very high on my reactivity list. Next: cow’s milk, which I was already pretty sure about…then, almonds. I’m two weeks into an elimination diet (no eggs in anything I eat) and I’m avoiding most dairy these days anyway already. So, in a few weeks, I will eat eggs and see what’s what.
Yeah, not getting to enjoy a lot of cheese, bread, etc, for the last little while was a bit of a bummer at first. But honestly, I am happy that my health issues made me look at what I’m eating through a different lens. Just in the last two weeks since eliminating eggs, I feel really good. I’m also trying to lose a little weight, so adding lots more vegetables, fish, chicken, lentils (very new to me!) has made me feel satisfied. (ie: not hungry)
It’s so weird to not miss dairy a whole lot. (I personally can tolerate goat’s milk and sheep’s milk cheeses and have found some I like at Mom’s.) I am trying a lot of dairy-free products and here are a few favorites. The chocolate chip cookies pictured are vegan and $6.99 at Whole Foods and they are much, much lower in fat and carbs. And I like them!
Note: I didn’t like the Oatly yogurt at all. (I’ve tried many, many others with no luck . . .)
