There are so many food events in Baltimore in the next month or so I needed to make a list, so I thought I’d share it with you!
Disloyalty Pop-up Coffee Tasting

Fells Point Farmers Market
7:30am – until they run out….
The Disloyalty Card program, which encourages visitors and locals alike to discover the city’s great cafés and coffee shops outside of their daily routines, launched in August. Pitango Gelato and Dooby’s Coffee will join LAMILL Coffee at the Fells Point Farmers Market to provide complimentary samples of their bestselling beverages and light fare along with information about the Disloyalty Card program. Get your card at the farmers market, go to all of the participating coffee shops and discover some of the city’s best coffee!

Farm to Chef is a local culinary competition that benefits Days of Taste. Thirty of the most talented Maryland chefs will be paired with thirty local farms to create innovative dishes for guests to enjoy. Plus delicious, creative cocktails presented by the Baltimore Bartenders Guild.
International Sake Day
Tuesday, October 1
PABU will kick off Sake Month with International Sake Day with the launch of a month-long Sake Happy Hour featuring complimentary abbreviated Sake 101 classes (see below for details) taught by Tiffany Soto, one of only three female master sake sommeliers in the world, and complimentary sake tastings. PABU will also highlight signature sake cocktails like the Cobra Kai and the Super X as well as offer special pricing on sake by the glass and bottle.

This party will bring in The Food Market’s Chad Gauss as its guest chef. Gauss will be bringing The Food Truck 450, his restaurant’s new mobile catering unit. Inside, Birroteca will be serving pasta, pizza and porchetta. The $35 ticket includes unlimited food and two drinks. That’s from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. A $100 VIP ticket includes unlimited food and drink throughout the evening and a preview hour from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. with representatives from Union Craft Brewing, Evolution Craft Brewing Co., Burley Oak Brewing Co. and Millstone Cellars.

Each Sake 101 class is an interactive tasting of five Sakes that will explore various flavor profiles and illustrate the diversity within the genre. With every sip, guests will learn about the libation’s history and brewing process, the meanings behind different grade designations, and how production regions affect taste. Conversation will also delve into the benefits of drinking Sake (including its low calorie count) and tips for easily navigating a Sake menu in the future. The

Great Kids Farm Fall Food & Jazz Festival

Enjoy an evening of locally sourced food and beverages, farm tours, jazz, and speaker Anim Steele discussing the creation of healthy food environments. Food will be presented by restaurants that purchase farm produce, including Atwater’s Bakeries, Waterfront Kitchen, Gertrudes, and the Black Olive. Beer provided by Union Craft Brewery. Proceeds benefit the nutrition, career training, and environmental education programs at Great Kids Farm.

Kubota Sake Dinner

PABU was recently honored with having “The Best Tasting Menu” of 2013 by Baltimore Magazine. For the month of October, Executive Chef Jonah Kim will introduce a sake-influenced version of their successful Satori tasting menu to be accompanies by various sake. One of the most prestigious brands, the collection of sakes is very hard to come by in the U.S. Kubota has been brewing sake for more than 400 years in Yugata—sake sommelier Tiffany Soto’s favorite region, known for exquisite snowfalls and long brewing seasons. Senshin, an ultra daiginjo and competition batch sake, will be part of the 5-course dinner pairing.
