One thing people ask me all the time? Where can I go to take cooking classes in town? Well, there are some options…and more chefs are getting into the game all the time. Nancy Longo has been doing classes (TONS!) at Pierpoint for years, as has John Shields at Gertrude’s and Donna Crivello at Donna’s. Here are some more. Cooking classes make a great holiday gift. I know I’m taking some of these in 2015 – can’t wait!

The workshops include snacks and beer, the nose-to-tail breakdown of a hog, and a pork-cooking demo at the end. The workshop is led by Parts & Labor’s head butcher/executive chef George Marsh and lead butcher Brian Javier. Together, they’ll cover the practice of seam butchery in general, walk folks through our cutting and curing programs and then spend about an hour actually working through all the muscles of the pig and demonstrating how the various parts are used.
